Land Access 101 Virtual Workshop
Leasing and Purchasing and Land Assessment, Oh My!
An Overview of Land Access for Beginning Farmers
Saturday, March 25 -10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Land access is one of the biggest barriers beginning farmers face. This workshop will help you discover creative and community-oriented solutions to land access. Whether you’ve identified the land you want to farm or are just starting your search, this session will share tools and best practices to help you in the process.
Led by Farmland Specialist Kelly Cabral, this virtual workshop will cover:
- whether buying or leasing is the best option for you;
- resources for finding land;
- tips for conducting a land assessment; and
- what to know about financing.
This is meant to be an overview of land access topics and not an in-depth workshop; however, additional resources will be provided to support your on-going learning.
What You Can Expect To Learn
Participants will gain confidence in their ability to conduct a land assessment as it relates to using land for agriculture. The workshop will highlight important considerations for buying or leasing land. Participants will leave with practical tools and resources to aid their land search process.
