Land Access Feasibility Study Request for Proposals
Project Overview
The Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA) is seeking a qualified consultant to research the feasibility of implementing a farmland access strategy for beginning farmers in Ohio. We are looking for a partner who is familiar with agriculture and land access as well as the challenges of transferring farmland from retiring farmers and exiting landowners to beginning farmers, and who has experience conducting research and analysis. The study should research similar models in other states and make recommendations for implementation in Ohio.
Please read the full RFP for more information.
Scope of Work
Our goal in conducting this feasibility study is to understand what OEFFA, in partnership with others as needed, could do to obtain farmland from retiring farmers or non-farming landowners and make it accessible for beginning farmers to purchase or lease. We are seeking a qualified consultant to complete the following feasibility study:
- Part 1: Research models in other states that accomplish similar goals in order to evaluate what it would take to implement in Ohio.
- Part 2: Make recommendations for implementing a similar model(s) in Ohio.
Schedule and Compensation
This work should begin in the July or August of 2022 and is expected to be completed by early December 2022. OEFFA will offer a contract of up to $5,000 to complete this work.
