Are you a farmer thinking about transferring your farm?
Whether you intend to transfer your farm within your family or to an unrelated farmer, succession planning is real work. This three-part online workshop series will help you assess your situation, consider options, make decisions, and develop a plan for transferring your land and/or farm business to a new farm owner.
Led by OEFFA Farmland Specialist Kelly Cabral, and under the experienced guidance of professionals from Land For Good, you will spend the first session learning how farm transfer works, assessing your current situation, and setting goals. You will leave with specific homework tasks, such as holding family meetings and talking to advisors, to help develop your plan.
During the second and third workshops, you will explore your options, hear from a legal professional, and clarify steps to succession with OEFFA staff support. You will finish the intensive workshop series with solid action steps in place.
“The dream is happening: to preserve the legacy of my family’s commitment to non-chemical farming and conservation practices, giving others access to enjoy this unique space and learn the multi-layered impact and resilience we can create; to give back to the land that sustained my family. Thank you so much for your part in creating this.”-2020 Farm Transfer workshop participant
